National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology Cooperated with Anji Technology Co. for the Research and Development of Solar Cells (2016.1.19)

(Journalist Xu Zhen-wei of Military News Agency on Jan.18 in Taoyuan)

In cooperation with the government’s Sustainable Energy Policy Convention and the support of Ministry of Economic Affairs funded Technology Development Project, National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology has been devoted to the development of CIGS thin-film solar cells. Fully mastering the key technology of the manufacturing process, components, materials, and patents, National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology has signed cooperation contract with Anji Technology Co. today to create a new era for the development of solar cells and generate a win-win industry for both the armed forces and the civilians.

As Deputy Director of National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology Ge Ping-ya suggests, for many years, National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology has been devoted to the development of national defense technology and industrial technologies regarding aviation and machinery, etc., and has accumulated rich research and development energy. Under the support of Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Institute transfer the research and development achievement of national defense to local industries through the Technology Development Project so as to help them develop high value-added products, enhance the power of key technologies, and gain great success.

Ge Ping Ya points out that in recent years, because of the issue regarding the reduction of CO2 emission and retardation of oil consumption, all the countries around the world have started to work on the development of alternative energy one after another. By combining the CIGS solar manufacturing technology developed by National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology and the package module technology developed by Anji Technology Co., niche flexible solar cells are developed together to create more efficient effects and lead the solar cell industry in Taiwan to enter the market of Blue Ocean.

In comparison with the previous glass solar cells, CIGS thin-film solar cells are lighter, foldable, flexible, and portable. They are extremely potential for further development, able to be fully applied to backpacks, tents, clothes, mobile device (such as communication, GPS, information device), automobiles, BIPV, etc.
